PT WIKA Tirta Jaya Jatiluhur (WTJJ) continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability by providing a free ready to drink water tap facility for the public. This initiative represents a concrete step in supporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles while directly contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, as well as supporting SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Through the use of advanced water purification technology, WTJJ delivers drinking water that is safe, healthy, and ready for immediate consumption without additional processing. The facility is located in front of the WTJJ office on Jalan Mayor Madmuin Hasibuan, Bekasi, making it easily accessible to the public, pedestrians, street vendors, and ride-hailing drivers passing through the area.

WTJJ President Director, Rendy Ardiansyah, stated that this program is part of the company’s social responsibility to create sustainable value for both the environment and the community. “We want to ensure that the public has easy and free access to high-quality drinking water. The water provided has undergone treatment using research-based distillation and reverse osmosis technology, making it safe for direct consumption,” he said.

The reverse osmosis technology used has proven effective in filtering contaminants, bacteria, and other harmful substances. With strict treatment standards, WTJJ ensures that water quality is consistently maintained and meets health and safety requirements.

Aligned with ESG Pillars

This initiative reflects the comprehensive implementation of ESG principles:

  1. Environmental
The ready-to-drink water tap encourages the use of refillable bottles and reduces single-use plastic consumption, contributing to lower plastic waste and environmental pollution.

  2. Social
The program expands public access to safe and free drinking water, particularly benefiting micro-entrepreneurs, informal workers, and people active in public spaces.

  3. Governance
WTJJ maintains water quality through strict operational standards, regular monitoring, and the application of research-driven technology as part of its commitment to transparent and responsible corporate governance.

Contribution to the SDGs

In addition to supporting SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), this initiative contributes to:

  1. SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by providing hygienic and safe drinking water.

  2. SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by delivering inclusive and environmentally friendly public facilities.

  3. SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by reducing single-use plastic waste.

Since its launch in early 2025, the facility has received positive feedback from the surrounding community.

Nuryadi, a tofu vendor, shared that the free drinking water access has been very helpful. “The water tastes good and fresh,” he said.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Sukato, a meatball vendor from Wonogiri who travels daily with his cart. He hopes similar facilities can be expanded to other locations so that more people can benefit. “I travel every day, so having access to this tap water is very helpful, not just for drinking but also for supporting my daily operations,” he explained.

This initiative further strengthens WTJJ’s role as a water infrastructure company that is not only focused on business performance but also committed to environmental sustainability and social well-being. This commitment forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to create measurable and lasting positive impact.

WTJJ has also achieved various recognitions at both national and international levels, including:

  1. A Museum Rekor-Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record in four categories, including the largest public-private partnership-based Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) operator in Indonesia.

  2. The best ESG Score in Indonesia and Asia for the Water category, and ranking among the top three global water companies with the highest ESG Score according to S&P Global.

  3. A Top Three Best Project recognition at the Bentley Systems Year in Infrastructure 2025 awards, a prestigious global infrastructure honor.

By delivering technology-driven and sustainability-focused solutions, WTJJ demonstrates that infrastructure innovation can go hand in hand with environmental protection and improved quality of life for communities.
